The Newham District Foodbank is asking for urgent support to help those in need over the festive season.
The aim of the Foodbank is to make sure that no one in the local community has to go hungry, and they need your help to make this happen.
With one in five of the borough’s residents living in poverty and average rents of £1,500, the cost-of-living crisis has struck many Newham residents hard.
The Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them as being in crisis.
These include people such as Holly and her four-year-old daughter who relied on the organisation for support after Holly fell ill.
“The people at the foodbank were wonderful, they understood and saved us,” Holly said.
You can help either by making a donation or by volunteering in a warehouse or at a Foodbank centre.
The Foodbank's three locations reopen soon: Ascension Foodbank on 9 January; St John’s Community Centre on 6 January; and Bonny Downs on 8 January.
